Parents and young children (5 & under) can come enjoy some unstructured playtime in the spacious Century Hall. There will be music to dance to, blocks, crawl tunnels, and other toys to play with and plenty of space. It will be a great opportunity to meet new friends and playmates. No registration required.

Our starting place will be Poet's Walk, a beautiful mile long trail that winds through the meadows and woodlands around historic Ayr Mount in Hillsborough. The walk meanders down to the Eno River, passes alongside the remnants of an old tavern and parallels the Old Indian Trading Path. Then we will proceed to Riverwalk trail, a paved 1.8 mile trail along the Eno River. Bring a water bottle and a snack.

Carve, paint or decorate your own pumpkin and then bring it to Carrboro Town Commons on Friday, October 25th between 9:30am - 3pm. Pumpkins will be displayed that night at the Annual Halloween Carnival. Citizens will have a chance to vote from 6pm - 8pm on which pumpkin they like best. The winner will be announced and presented a gift card at 8:15pm. All entries must be received by 3pm on Friday, October 25th at Carrboro Town Commons. (Please remember that this is a kid-friendly event and the Recreation & Parks Department reserves the right to deny entries deemed inappropriate.)

We are bringing back this classic movie “Nightmare Before Christmas” to Century Hall. Bring a blanket and friends we will have games before the movie. Tanglewood Puppets shows are all original, but firmly rooted in the folkloric and mythic tradition with a huge helping of silliness and fun thrown on top. Children are encouraged to be part of the story and actively engage the puppets. Tanglewood Puppets originated in California and over time has made the journey to North Carolina. Stardust Road is a New Musical Journey of friendship across four decades told through the timeless music of Hoagy Carmichael. Experience Hoagy Carmichael’s music from the 1920’s through the 1950’s featuring his honky tonk rags, swing era favorites, his contributions to the war effort and finally his elegant Hollywood hits, showing how we all grow up to find our own Stardust Road. Directed by Tony Award Winner, Susan H. Schulman and choreographed by Broadway veteran, Michael Lichtefeld, this show will feature a live big band and rousing tap dancing!

The Board of Aldermen holds meetings on the 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th Tuesdays of each month except for the months of July and August; the last three weeks of December and the first week of January. The 2nd Tuesday is used as a work session meeting for the Board of Aldermen and public comment is generally not accepted.

The October 24th community open house will include findings on a new analysis of travel patterns on NC 54 near Carrboro as well as summarize the NC 54 West Corridor Study. The open house is 6PM to 8PM, with a formal presentation and Q&A session at 6:45PM
